Halfway House

Killarney Golf and Fishing club has a quirky Halfway House call the “The Chapel” which serves hot food, teas & coffees and alcohol. During the summer season they can also arrange for a BBQ if you have enough numbers to make it worthwhile.

More Golf

Killarney Golf and Fishing Club bodes two breathtaking courses around the lakes, the second is called “Mahoney’s Point”. In terms of value for money this place is right up there. The general theme of the course is very similar to Killeen. This boasts the title of having one of the most picturesque holes in golf, the par 3 18th.

Mahoney’s Point is very reasonable to play and it varies from €45 to €80. If you are a GUI (Golf Union Ireland) member you can play the course for €30 on Tuesdays by playing in the Open Singles.

Other things to do in Killarney

Killarney is one of the most visited towns in Ireland by tourists. It is famous for the National Park, scenic drives, and Irish culture. If you were to stay in Killarney, some things that you could check out while staying there are, visit; the Gap of Dunloe, Muckross House, Torc Waterfall, Ladies View and Molls Gap. Killarney is also located approximately 30 minutes drive from Kenmare which is also incredibly popular amongst tourists and visitors.

Best place to eat post round

Thankfully, Killarney is littered with some incredible restaurants and bars. We ate in an Asian Restaurant called Toba and found the food there to be excellent, which came at a very reasonable price. Other options include JM Reidy’s (which is more famously know for its live music and craic), the Porterhouse and Celtic Whiskey Bar. Overall, you won’t be short places to choose from!

Accommodation

Killarney has an abundance of B&B’s and hotels to choose from. We stayed in the 19th Green Guesthouse which is approximately 0.3km’s from the Golf Club and a 5 minute drive (or 20 minute run, depending on how drunk you are) to the Town Centre. It was clean, spacious and very affordable.

Distances from Airports

Kerry Airport to Killarney: 17km’s, approx 20min drive.

Shannon Airport to Killarney: 135km’s, approx 2hr drive.

Dublin Airport to Killarney: 314km’s, approx 3hr 25mins drive.

Best local 99

Murphy’s in Killarney has a strong reputation for producing some savage ice cream. If your a traditional “Whippy Cone” merchant, we recommend trying the Centra Petrol Station on the Tralee Road. Our resident Whippy Cone expert has scored this at a reasonable 🍦🍦🍦 (3 out of 5).
